Trustees

Dumfries & Galloway Outdoor Access Trust has three Trustees.

June Hay

Trustee

I am an enthusiastic supporter of the ‘right to roam’ and Scotland’s access legislation. It has been very satisfying to be part of a group of knowledgeable , committed outdoor activists. To have the possibility to improve and increase access to Dumfries and Galloway’s natural assets for everyone , the people who live here, the tourists, all age groups is just great.

Peter Ross

Trustee

I have lived and worked in Dumfries and Galloway since 1969. I currently live in Glenluce. My children have moved away and settled around the world in search of work. I have been an active volunteer in my community since the mid 1970’s. I enjoy gardening, reading and hill walking.

I chair Dumfries and Galloway Outdoor Access Forum whose function is to: Advise DGC on access matters and overseeing the Core Path Network. I also chair Dumfries and Galloway Outdoor Access Trust whose function is: To champion the out doors as it is so important to everyone’s quality of life. To promote the creation of a network of paths and promote health through the enjoyment of walking.

I am also a Walk Leader for Versusarthritis Scotland leading weekly walks around Wigtownshire.

William Oakes

Trustee

I qualified as a solicitor of England & Wales in 1975 and lived in Huddersfield for 20 years before moving permanently to Stewartry of Kirkcudbright in early 2012 with myNewfoundland dogs. Three of my four grandparents were born in Scotland, giving me strong family connections with a few relatives nearby in SW Scotland. I developed an interest in the ‘Right to Roam’ especially whilst walking his Newfoundlands.

Jonathan Barrett

Jonathan Barrett has a long history of work in senior posts in planning and environmental services in different parts of the UK and New Zealand and since 2018 has been the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnerships Land Management and Access Officer. As a resident of Dalbeattie with a wide interest in access, outdoor recreation and environmental issues Jonathan is a trustee of DGOAT.
